Dominican Republic - The savage side

Dominican Republic is well know for the all inclusive beaches in Punta Cana, but we decided to go wild and free on the mother land of Mamajuana and Romeo Santos. Follow me I will show you magic!

Itinerary :

DAY 1 :

We arrive in Punta Cana direction el cortecito to check in at our hotel Canela for our first night.

First visit at night to the Punta Cana beach ! Beautiful :)

DAY 2 :

I should have put cream, I forgot that white become red some how under the sun.

Little breakfast at the bar in front of our hotel Capri where we met yesterday Megan and her boyfriend. At the breakfast we ask the waiters if they can arrange a scooter rent for us. We got the scooter for 2 days now let's start driving around.

We decided to drive to Macao for some surfing sessions. After 1 hour of driving we arrive in our hostel ! Haaaa no it's not this one.

Here we go : Casa Paradisio. Check in done let's go to the beach to surf.

After surf ... FOOD. We got the most amazigg fish ever they call it Cabrilla and they prepare it with "Sason completo y orégano"

Back to the hotel I decided to be the pilot :) I am a super good pilot I am just not that good at getting off the scooter when someone is behind. RESULT : Steven is a "bit" burn.

DAY 3 :

We are taking the road of the quad in order to look for the "Cuevas"

We found it and we are alone ! Beautiful.

Back to the "town" it's time to find a pharmacy for Steven's leg. While waiting for the pharmacy to open we make some nice new friends.

On the afternoon we are back to the beach, no surf possible so we got some rhum and mango on the Macao beach.

The food is so expensive here we decided to cook a full chicken that we paid 280 pesos (5 euros).

Day 4 :

Back to El Cortecito to give back the scooter and find a new plan.

We got first an amazing breakfast from the mama "con todo".

We got the car 35$ a day (after a bit of fight with the scooter guy who wanted to keep 20$ ... anyway) WE GOT A CAR let's drive to Bayahibe.

Arriving in Pueblo Bayahibe, we found a nice hotel 1200 for a night (was actually 800 normally we figure that a few days later and we are going for a walk along the water.

Time to eat, we found a nice place with "local offers". The sun is about to set, let's get some beer (and make a little siesta). Oh, there is an other nice bar here, it's APERO time :). We got drunk after 2 cocktails (maybe 4 for Steven who always have 2 glasses ahead from me ^^.

DAY 5 :

Direction to Isla Saona with the Catamaran (and free Rum). At night we decided to drive toward les Teranes to spend the next few days. It was a very long drive and scary one :) but at the end we made it !!

DAY 6 : We wake up in las Teranas which is the peninsula on the north of the island. All our efforts the night before to get there have been paid, it's wonderful. Breakfast at the french bakery, it seems that this part of the island have been invaded by french people.

After breakfast we decided to go for an adventure to "El Limon" the waterfall.

We first stop at a parking where a guy make us rent amazing shoes that Steven is currently wearing because it's supposed to be very sliding.

It's going to be a long walk under the sun but so worth it. OMG the waterfall (they look quite small) I don't think it is the proper one let's continue. And a second "waterfall" still a bit small for what we have heard of it, let's continue. And an other one, it's a paradise of waterfall. We love it ! Here we go : EL LIMON !! We are stil alone there compare to all the picture we have seen with all the tourist. We are taking a bath is this amazingly clear water.El Limón.

Time to find an hotel (Rudys rancho), after viewing some of them in (i don't remember the name of the city) we meet with a girl we have been with in Macao she shows us an amazing hotel, where we will spend the night before driving to the pirate of Caribbean beach supposed to be awesome.

DAY 7 : We are driving to Playa Rincon On the way we stop at the reserve of Rhinoceros, we were really thinking they have them but there are actually iguana with a little horn. They love flowers we play some time with them and hear some pig screaming let's go there.

Ok let's go back to the plan and find Playa Rincon.

On the way there we found Luis who is going to the beach to find his mum . He will make us visit the full bay.

Oups, I jump too close you are wet :).

After few jump in this clear water, the kids decided to eat some coconut. I have never seen someone climbing like that.

When he got on the tree he screamed to his friend to catch something ... Just a snake who was in the coconut tree and will decide to swim ... Hopefully i already made all the jump i needed. There is no going back to the water haha.

The kid decided to open it, Steven too.

After swimming in the lake we decided to visit the other part of Playa Rincon. In this part of the country you can drive the car on the beach :)

On the map I saw that they have some Zipline, but it was a bit expensive so we visited a hotel in the tree :):).

And drive to Santo Domingo but we did not like it and we slept in Boca Chica, very cheap place, amazing pizza and lots of prostitution.

DAY 8 : Boca Chica

DAY 9 : Back to Bayahibe but this time we are prepared not to spend all money on alcohol. In Boca Chica, before leaving, we found pineapple juice, we have rum and some coconut milk. Let's make our own Pina Coladaaaaaaaaaaaa. Obviously that make us drunk very quickly so we are hungry and ask the restaurant if they would be happy to deliver some fish on the beach :).

Day 10 : Time to drive back to el cortecito.

DAY 11 : 11 hours of flight delay, pic nic time.
